About Us

We are AL and Joni Gordon, just two people who have a love of Scotties and Westies. We acquired our first Westie Lady Button Eyes, about 30 years ago, and like potato chips, one is never enough. It wasn’t long before another joined the family, a little male named Tam MacAndrew.  Several years later, we had our first litter and thus began Grey House Westies. Soon, we had the opportunity to get a little Scottie,  our first Maggie , the name became Grey House Terriers and the rest is history.  Two years ago, we had the opportunity to move to Middle Tennessee and we love it here, and so do the dogs. We were fortunate to find a home with 6 acres to devote to our dogs. We have neighbors who raise Black Angus cattle, goats and we have many tree Nurseries all around us. Acres and acres of trees, planted all in a row. The views in spring and autumn are spectacular.

It is very fitting that we breed the wonderful little dogs from Scotland, as the Gordon name is very  prevalent  in  Scottish History, and we still have family living in Scotland. They have visited the states several times, and it is a dream of ours to be able to visit their homes in the future. I’m sure when we do we’ll be looking for Westies and Scotties when we’re there.

We’re a small player in the breeding business, and we like it that way, since we have a small number of dogs, we can spend one on one time with all of them.  We want our dogs to be comfortable in our home, and not be afraid of people or normal household sounds. Our puppies are born inside of our home and remain inside until they have their first set of shots. We are very serious about their health and well being.

Unlike some breeders, we don’t have litters of puppies every time you look at our web site. We breed our girls only once each year. We believe healthy Mommies have healthy puppies, so we may have several period each year when we do not have any puppies. This is not a business to us, to see how many puppies we can sell each year. We do it for the love of these wonderful  little dogs. We urge anyone who is thinking about buying a Westie or Scottie to use caution if buying from a breeder who always has several litters. It is quality that counts, not quantity.  Raising a litter of well balanced healthy puppy take a lot of time, devotion and hard work, so if someone always has 2 or 3 litters, ask yourself, how much time are they really spending with these puppies.

We strive for quality and temperament and well balanced dogs to share with the world. Our customers tell us they can tell the puppies are well cared for and quality dogs. We have customers who are now on their 3rd or 4th Grey House Terrier.  That is the ultimate compliment and shows us we are doing exactly what we set out to do.

As always, if you have any questions about either of these two breeds, we are always available to answer your questions at greyhouseterriers@yahoo.com.
